Conservation Internship Program Learning Objectives

Conservation Interns will participate in many stages of preparing artifacts for the inaugural exhibition including, but not limited to, or inclusive of the below listed:

  • Conducting examinations
  • Writing condition reports
  • Photo documentation
  • Identifying and implementing preventive care strategies
  • Learning the basics of environmental monitoring
  • Researching fabrication techniques (identifying the processes involved in making an object)
  • Writing treatment proposals

Interns will become familiar with, and assist with Conservation Lab operations, and the care of collections procedures for a busy new museum. Interns will perform supervised conservation treatment steps commensurate with their skill level.
