About this Event
Experience the art of weaving with Charleston basket maker, Sarah Edwards-Hammond. Coiled basketry came to America through enslaved people who used long-bladed grasses to create baskets based on traditional African forms. The workshop includes a history of the art form and an overview of the techniques and natural materials used to weave. Over the course of two days, the instructor will guide students of all levels in creating their very own Charleston sweetgrass basket.

Reservations are required. All materials and tools are provided.  The class size is limited to 20, so be sure to reserve your spot now!
