Michael A. Fletcher, writer, ESPN Undefeated, interviews Eddie Glaude Jr., Chair, African American Studies Department, Princeton University at the paperback launch of his book Democracy in Black (Penguin-Random House.) Among other topics, their conversation will focus on Glaude’s exploration of the value gap between black and white American lives, and why this country’s promise of equality has failed to materialize for all of its citizens. Jasiri X, musical and spoken word artist will open and close the program. A question and answer period follows the interview.  A book sale and signing ends the program courtesy of Smithsonian Enterprises. Registration is for this program is strongly encouraged, but walk-ins will be welcome.
