The series was among the first to provide expanded images of African Americans on television, shifting the gaze from inner-city poverty and violence to the vibrancy of the Black Arts Movement. Museum doors open at 6:30 pm. Please print and bring your ticket to expedite entry. To ensure a full house, AFI DOCS purposely takes more reservations than there are seats.
