Venue: African American History and Culture Museum Event Location: Oprah Winfrey Theater Cost: FREE - Registration encouraged Get Tickets: NMAAHC curator of music and the performing arts, Dwandalyn Reece, Ph.D. leads journalist and critic Aaron Cohen, legendary bassist, producer, and arranger, John William “Johnny” Pate,  and Curtis Mayfield III, a contemporary gospel recording artist, in a discussion of Curtis Mayfield Jr.: his genius for songwriting, entrepreneurship, and promoting social awareness within popular music. The NMAAHC House Band led, by Rex Carnegie, will place selected Mayfield hits to highlight discussion points. Please note: This is the second of a two-day tribute to Curtis Mayfield, Jr. The first program is scheduled for June 2, 2017 at 7 p.m. Registration is now open for both program dates.
