About This Event
Join us for a docent-led talk and get a fresh look into a featured object that is on view in one of our permanent exhibitions. At each of these 15-minute talks visitors will hear incredibly big stories about a big object and experience the infinite possibilities of Afrofuturism.
About this Program: From the era of slavery to the present day, African Americans have re-imagined the futures and possibilities of black people across the globe through the dynamic lens of Afro-Futurism. Learn how Colonial Afrofuturists, like Benjamin Banneker and Phillis Wheatly, amplified the cause of abolition by speaking truth to power and producing knowledge for public good.
