Highlights from the Event

From the era of slavery to the present day, African Americans have re-imagined the futures and possibilities of black people across the globe through the dynamic lens of Afrofuturism.  Join us for a docent-led talk and get a fresh look into a featured object that is on view in one of our permanent exhibitions.

About this Program – HBO series ‘Watchmen’ is based on the groundbreaking graphic novel set in an alternate history where masked vigilantes are treated as outlaws.  It depicts the Tulsa Race Massacre, one of the worst outbreaks of racial violence in American history, in its series premiere.  Converse with a docent and hear the real story about the once vibrant all-black enclave of Greenwood in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
