Dwandalyn Reece, Ph.D, NMAAHC Associate Director of Arts and Humanities, will moderate an enlightening conversation between Bill C. Banfield, Research Associate with the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Studies, and Professor Emerita, and Director of Africana Studies at the Berklee College of Music, and virtuoso guitarist Ernie Isley, of the iconic Isley Bros. Audiences will learn about the seven-decade career of this award winning and enduring group and Ernie’s contributions to this legacy. Banfield and Isley will perform throughout the evening, highlighting the intersection of rhythm and blues and rock and roll with America’s diverse folk music tradition.
