About This Event
Join us for the "Reclaiming Our Time Retreat", a half-day journey led by Ericka Phillips at Eaton Wellness. This retreat is a nurturing space dedicated to rest, reflection, and rejuvenation. Through meditation, mindful movement, and journaling, we will create a sanctuary of support and stillness, empowering each participant to reclaim their time and energy. Together, we will explore ways to foster a community that uplifts us and round out the day with a shared meal.
Key Activities:
- Meditation and mindful movement (restorative yoga)
- Journaling and reflection
- Music, movement, and dance
- Rest
- Shared Meal (please send dietary restrictions to mosesc2@si.edu)
Just as the museum's chronological journey through Black American history offers profound insights, this retreat will provide a space for contemplating our personal spiritual journey. By focusing on the inner self, we aim to reclaim our place at the center of our lives, recognizing that self-care is essential for resilience and interdependence.
What to Bring:
- Journal/Notebook and pen
- Yoga mat (optional; mats will be provided)
What to Wear: Comfortable, athletic-leisure attire (we’ll be indoors); Cozy socks (if you tend to get cold).
Through this retreat, we aim to shift our focus from external demands to internal nourishment, embracing our health, creativity, and joy. The journey is the goal, and we will explore ways to integrate these practices into our daily lives. Together, we will find strength in stillness and discover the power of self-determination, supported by a community of like-minded individuals. Join us in this transformative experience as we reclaim our time to take our rightful seat in our own lives.
