Highlights from the Event

Join us for an engaging and thought-provoking event at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture exploring the interplay of art, equity, joy, and self-care. Produced in partnership with the Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum, this program will feature an interactive panel discussion with diverse perspectives from artists, curators, mental health professionals, and community leaders. Attendees will also enjoy a meal and partake in a small discussion at their tables related to mental health resources, art therapy practices, and guides to equitable art engagement. Participants will learn about the therapeutic aspects of art, celebrate joy in artistic expression, and promote sustainable practices in artistic communities. Dr. Julianne Malveaux will moderate a conversation with Smithsonian curators Michelle Wilkinson and Samir Meghelli. Artist and professor of art therapy Sone-Seeré Burrell will also join the conversation.

Cost: $40.00
