About This Event

Inspired by the speakeasy clubs of the Harlem Renaissance, which were welcoming and inclusive places for all, the Museum invites you into a space that welcomes LGBTQ+ African Americans (and allies) of all gender identities and orientations.

This year’s program is inspired by the Museum’s exhibition, Afrofuturism: A History of Black Futures. During the evening you can explore the exhibition and attend a panel discussion about Afrofuturism. There will also be music, art making, light fare and liquid refreshment. The evening will end with a dance party with the marvelous DJ MIM. Please feel free to come dressed in your best Afrofuturistic attire.

Featured Guests include:

DC’s own High Priestess of Love, Queen of the Shameless Plug, and Empress of Pride – Rayceen Pendarvis

Author, Afrofuturist, Director – Ytasha Womack – whose new book Black Panther: A Cultural Exploration will be available for purchase.

Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday, September 20, 2023.
