Highlights from the Event
Sweet Home Café will offer a special menu recognizing Hispanic Heritage Month, prepared by Robert Rivera (Regional Executive Chef at Thompson Hospitality) and Gabriel Jonas (Executive Chef at Thompson Hospitality).
Chef Robert has more than 30 years of culinary, operations, and customer service experience. Robert moved to the D.C. area in 1988 to help expand a national brand and has managed local, independent restaurants. Robert joined Thompson Hospitality in July 2010 and worked for the Austin Grill brand as a general manager and district manager. In September 2014, he transitioned to Joint Ventures to help expand the Thompson Hospitality brand portfolio.
Chef Gabriel was inspired by his grandmother and mother, and began cooking at an early age. He graduated from Kendall College with a B.A.S. in food and beverage management. During his college career he interned in France, Hungary, and Spain. Later, he worked at The Peninsula Hotel (Chicago). After moving around the U.S., he helped open a restaurant in Aspen, Colorado. Hospitality is his passion, and is where he incorporates his mixed cultural background and worldly travels into his work.
