This document is from a collection of financial papers related to the plantation operations of several generations of the Rouzee Family in Essex County, Virginia. The papers date from the 1790s through 1860.
This handwritten, single page document is an accounting for money due J. Taylor by Mrs. Apphia Rouzee for weaving services and the hiring of an enslaved woman, Philice. The accounting itemizes weaving of pieces of cloth, a blanket furnished to "your girl," and the hiring of Philice, for the years 1805, 1806, and 1807. On the reverse is written, "A/C Mrs. A. Rouzee with Jesse Taylor." Both sides are written in black ink.
