- Description
- A 1976 issue of Delegate magazine published by MelPat Associates. The cover of the magazine features a collage of cropped black and white photographic portraits. In the center is an angled blue square with text that reads [DELEGATE] in white text and [76] in striped red and white text, with a circle of stars in the center of the six [6]. Black text on the white spine reads [BI-CENNTENNIAL EDITION - DELEGATE 1976].
- The magazine’s content opens on the first page with an editorial note titled “The Long Journey from the back of the bus,” about how this issue of the Delegate will focus on “200 years of Contributions Blacks gave this nation as part of our Bicentennial Celebration.” There is also a masthead reading [DELEGATE, 1976] and a table of contents.
- The majority of this issue consists of a 137 page article titled “The Negro in America, 1550-1976.” The content then continues with articles and profiles of African American business organizations, business leaders, community organizations, sororities, fraternities, doctors, dentists, politicians, actors, and journalists. - This document is part of a scrapbook that was compiled in 1956 and 1957 by Frances Albrier during her term as president of the San Francisco Chapter of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW). The scrapbook highlights the Chapter’s efforts to register voters and educate Bay Area residents on the importance of voting as a part of the Citizenship Education Project which was jointly sponsored by the NCNW and the National Urban League.

- This program lists the events for the 22nd annual convention of the National Council of Negro Women held in 1957 in Washington, DC at the Willard Hotel. Frances Albrier's name badge is taped to page two (2). There are notes and inscriptions written by Frances Albrier throughout the program. The twenty page program is adhered to page 45 of Frances Albrier's scrapbook (2010.60.1).

- The National Park Service unveils the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) Mary McLeod Bethune memorial statue in Lincoln Park [between Northeast and Southeast] Washington. I climbed up some Park Service scaffolding to get this shot. The workers looked the other way—they knew I wasn’t supposed to be up there. I got the best photos that day.
