- Description
- A 1976 issue of Delegate magazine published by MelPat Associates. The cover of the magazine features a collage of cropped black and white photographic portraits. In the center is an angled blue square with text that reads [DELEGATE] in white text and [76] in striped red and white text, with a circle of stars in the center of the six [6]. Black text on the white spine reads [BI-CENNTENNIAL EDITION - DELEGATE 1976].
- The magazine’s content opens on the first page with an editorial note titled “The Long Journey from the back of the bus,” about how this issue of the Delegate will focus on “200 years of Contributions Blacks gave this nation as part of our Bicentennial Celebration.” There is also a masthead reading [DELEGATE, 1976] and a table of contents.
- The majority of this issue consists of a 137 page article titled “The Negro in America, 1550-1976.” The content then continues with articles and profiles of African American business organizations, business leaders, community organizations, sororities, fraternities, doctors, dentists, politicians, actors, and journalists. - Description
- A championship belt presented to Ezzard Charles consists of red, white, and blue striped ribbon with black backing. Back is lined in blue silk. Thinner blue silk ribbons sewn to either end act as the fastener. A rectangular brass plate in the center of belt boasts a circular medallion depicting a woman in flowing robes and a compass. Text around the top and bottom of the plate reads [NATIONAL / CHAMPIONSHIP]. Raised text around the medallion reads [AMATEUR ATHLETIC UNION OF THE UNITED STATES MDCCCLXXXVIII]. Either side of medallion stands a bare knuckle boxer. The Ring Magazine Boxing Fighter of the Year 1950 award (2017.28.5) is pinned to the belt.

- Description
- Copper alloy boxing championship belt with presentation case awarded to Ezzard Charles in 1948. Consists of large central plate and four plates either side. Central plate has circular photo of Ezzard Charles above which is an eagle with outstretched wings flanked on both sides by US, British and what might be French flags. Flags are enameled. The top of the plate has detached circular element with clear colored stones (possible paste or glass) encompassing the head of a wolf. The eagle carries a banner that reads [POLICE GAZETTE HEAVY WEIGHT CHAMPION PRIZE RING BELT OF THE WORLD]. At bottom of the central plate is a banner that reads [PRESENTED BY H. H. ROSWELL POLICE GAZETTE / 1948].
- Looking left of the central plate the first plate depicts a boxer in raised relief, next is an English rose, next is a US shield with eagle and the final plate is engraved with previous recipients of the award. Attached to the final plate is a clasp with two holes for fastening the belt. Looking right of central plate depicted in raised relief is another boxer, next is the Scottish thistle, followed by the Irish harp and the final plate is engraved with previous winner of this award. Attached to the final plate is the other half of the clasp with two raised stubs that coincide with the holes on the other half. The plates are joined together with hinges with long barrels, blunt at the top and pointed at the bottom.
- The exterior of the case is black with three closing clasps and a central handle. Interior is lined with dark blue vinyl/paper and purple velvet and there are four pairs of Cu alloy straps that would have been wrapped in velvet and used to hold belt in place.

- Description
- A medal awarded to Ezzard Charles by The Ring Magazine for the year 1950. The medal consists of a top plate that reads [The / RING / FIGHTER OF THE YEAR / AWARD], below which hang two chains, the ends of which are joined by a second plate with text reading [PRESENTED TO / EZZARD CHARLES] flanked by boxing gloves. Below the second plate hangs a single chain to which is attached an oval pendant. The center of the pendant depicts two boxers fighting, and the reverse depicts a shield bearing stars and stripes with an eagle above it. The top plate holds in place a red, white and blue ribbon. The edge of the pendant depicts radiant bands. The award is attached to the National Championship belt for 1938 (2017.28.4).

- 1950 Ring Magazine Heavyweight Championship Belt awarded to Ezzard Charles. Elasticated belt consisting of bands of red, white and blue fabric over gold backing. Both ends are leather with three straps and three buckles for fastening. Large central brass plate and three smaller plates on either side all depicted with right facing eagles on top.
