All the men are in full uniform, including hats, rifles, and swords. Printed vertically on the left of the image is “T.H. McALLISTER, Manufacturing Optician,.” Printed vertically on the right side of the image is “49 NASSAU STREET, NEW YORK.” A paper label is adhered to the back of the slide. - Medal of Honor citation issued for First Lieutenant John E. Warren, Jr. The citation is on white paper with black printed type. The top has a color image of the Medal of Honor with its' blue ribbon. In large block print below the image, the text reads [THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA]. In smaller type, the text continues, [TO ALL WHO SHALL SEE THESE PRESENTS GREETING: / THIS IS TO CERTIFY THAT / THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA / AUTHORIZED BY CONGRESS / HAS AWARDED IN THE NAME OF THE CONGRESS]. Below, in larger type again, [THE MEDAL OF HONOR]. In the center lists Warren's name, the reason he was awarded the medal, and the date. On the bottom of the citation are the signatures of [Stanley R. Resor / SECRETARY OF THE ARMY] on the left, and [Richard Nixon / PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA] on the right. In the center is the seal of the Department the Army in gold. The stamp reads, in a circle around the central emblem, [UNITED STATES OF AMERICA / WAR OFFICE. In the center, the banner above the flags and swords state, [THIS WILL DEFEND], and below, [MDCCLCCVIII]. An image of a star is in all four corners of the citation. The citation is in a wooden frame with a light blue mat.

- The Medal of Honor (.1a) issued for First Lieutenant John E. Warren, Jr. features a gold medal on a blue silk ribbon. The ribbon is long enough to be placed around the neck, 21 3/4 inches. At the center of the ribbon is a blue silk diamond shaped central piece with 13 white stars. The medal is attached between the diamond shaped piece and the bottom ribbon connected with a metal hinge. Below the ribbon, an eagle with wings outstretched sits on top of a gold bar. The eagle has a wreath and arrows in each arm like the Great Seal of the United States. The gold bar has [VALOR] inscribed on top. The medallion is connected with two metal circles to the bar. The medallion consists of a gold five pointed star, each point tipped with trefoils, surrounded by a green laurel wreath. On each ray of the star is a green oak leaf. In the center of the star, a profile of Minerva is surrounded by the words [UNITED STATES OF AMERICA]. In the bottom of the circle is the shield featured on the Great Seal.

In the center of the star is Minerva’s head surrounded by the words [UNITED STATES OF AMERICA]. On each ray of the star is a green oak leaf. On the recto, the bar is engraved with [THE CONGRESS TO] with [SGT/CORNELIUS H./CHARLTON/CO C. 24TH INF REGT/25TH INF DIV.USA] engraved on the star.

- Lewiston Cunningham Broadus (1875-1960) was veteran of the United States Army, who served his country with valor for over 32 years, from 1897 to 1923. As a Buffalo Soldier in the 25th Infantry, Captain Broadus was a veteran of the Indian wars, saw action in the Texas-Mexican border skirmishes, fought in the Spanish-American War with Theodore Roosevelt's "Rough Riders" at San Juan Hill, and served with Captain Young's troopers at the Presidio in San Francisco. In World War I, he fought in the 92nd Infantry with General Pershing in major European campaigns. On July 3, 1906 while Broadus was a first sergeant stationed at Fort Niobrara, NE, a disgruntled private attempted to shoot an officer who had reported him for abusive language. Broadus grabbed the rifle by the muzzle as the shot was fired, thereby protecting the officer and nearly being hit by the bullet himself. For this action, he was awarded a Certificate of Merit from President Theodore Roosevelt. The award was later converted to a Distinguished Service Cross on April 26, 1934. After lobbying efforts by the family, the Department of the Army issued the Cross to Lewis Broadus's surviving family members in 2006.

- Distinguished Service Cross medal ribbon bar issued to Lewis Broadus. The ribbon is mainly blue with edge stripes of white and red. The back has two butterfly clutches lapel pin backs. The back of the medal has a rectangular shape cut out of the center showing the hollow inside. Above the rectangular hole is the manufacture’s mark that reads, [GRACO - GI].

- Description
- A silver metal dog tag with stamped information. Rectangular shape with rounded ends, it has letters stamped deeply into the metal. The tag is bent slightly towards one end. There are small dents and scratches throughout, and signs of wear around the suspension hole. The stamped letters read "BROWN/JAMES E/[social security number]/OPOS/BAPTIST." Also attached to the bead chain by a shorter bead loop is a P38 can opener. Inscribed on one side is "U.S./MALLIN/SHELBY.O." The can opener is roughly rectangular in shape, with a hole on one corner for the suspension chain. There is a raised metal groove running down the length of the rectangle. One side has a small sharp half-moon indentation cut out of the edge. Below this indentation is a hinged, half-moon shaped tooth with a sharp curved upper edge. This section can lay flat against the larger rectangle of metal or swing open. The metal is stained and has some rust spots.

- Description
- Distinguished Service Cross presentation case issued to Lewis Broadus. The case is rectangular in shape and opens on door metal hinges. The top of the case is designed in gold lettering that reads, [DISTINGUISHED SERVICE CROSS/ [UNITED STATES OF AMERICA]. On the left there is a vertical border of leaves and arrows encased in double lines. The case opens on the shorter end. The top of the case is lined with white paper. The bottom insert is made from a soft grey fabric that has holes where the medal, ribbon bar, and pin can be attached. The insert can be completely removed from the case and hung on a wall. The inside is lined with white plastic and has a rectangular shape coming out of the bottom. Below the rectangle is the manufacture’s mark, [ARROW]. The back is blank.

- Description
- The United States Army Good Conduct Medal. The medal consists of a gold toned pin holding a red ribbon with six (6) white vertical stripes. The pin has a safety pin closure on the back and a bar that holds the ribbon attached to a medal. The ribbon is looped over the bar and held in place with thread at the bottom corners of the pin. The ribbon is gathered on a jump ring at the bottom that also holds the medal. The medal is round, bronze colored, and has a bezel attached to the jump ring. The obverse of the medal is edged with text that reads [EFFICIENCY · HONOR · FIDELITY ·]. In the center of the medal is a relief depiction of an eagle with its wings spread, perched on a sword. The sword rests on a closed book. The reverse of the medal depicts a wreath of laurel and oak leaves in relief. At the center is a five-pointed star and a scroll with the text [FOR GOOD] and [CONDUCT] above and below the star and scroll in relief.

- Description
- A US Army green service uniform shirt worn by Colin L. Powell as General and as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The short-sleeved pale green dress shirt has a standard collar and closes at the center front with seven (7) round clear plastic buttons. There are two (2) spare buttons sewn on the proper right front near the hem which are hidden by the proper left front button band when the shirt is closed. There are two (2) pleated breast pockets, one at each front side, with flaps that fasten at the center with one (1) round clear plastic button each. There are self-fabric shoulder straps, one on each shoulder, that fasten near the neck with one (1) round clear plastic button each. There are two (2) tags at the interior center back neck. The top tag is black fabric with gold embroidered text reading "CITADEL". The bottom tag is white with red embroidered text detailing laundering care. There is an additional white fabric tag at the exterior proper left front above the hem with printed text containing style, fiber content, and care information.

- Description
- The National Defense Service medal issued for First Lieutenant John E. Warren, Jr. features a rounded bronze medal. The ribbon is red with a wide yellow stripe in the center with a white, blue, white stripe on either side of the yellow. The ribbon is embedded in the upraised edges of the gold pinback. The pinback has text on the back that reads, [CN-GI]. The medal hangs from its ribbon by a circular metal loop. The front of the medal has an image of a bald eagle, standing on a sword and palm. Above this, in a semicircle, is the inscription [NATIONAL DEFENCE]. The back of the medal has an image of the shield on the United States coat of arms. - The Purple Heart award is a heart-shaped medal within a gold border, 1 inch (35 mm) wide, containing a profile of General George Washington. Above the heart appears a shield of the coat of arms of George Washington (a white shield with two red bars and three red stars in chief) between sprays of green leaves. The reverse consists of a raised bronze heart with the words FOR MILITARY MERIT below the coat of arms and leaves. The ribbon is 1 inch (35 mm) wide and consists of the following stripes: (3 mm) white 67101; (29 mm) purple 67115; and (3 mm) white 67101.
