- A circular metal pin-back button. The button has a white background with red type that reads: [SHIRLEY CHISHOLM for PRESIDENT] around the top and ["_to represent all Americans"] around the bottom. The center of the button has a black-and-white depiction of Shirley Chisholm inside a red female symbol. Black text around the edge of the button reads: [(c) 1972 A. G. TRIMBLE E CO. PGH, PA.15222)]. The edge also has a diamond logo that reads [AFL-CIO IUDTW]. The back of the button is silver in color, and has a single pin without a clasp.

- Annie Pearl Avery remembers her childhood in Birmingham, Alabama, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and joining the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) at age sixteen. She recalls attending a SNCC meeting in Atlanta and being stranded and threatened in Marietta, Georgia, on the way home. She discusses her involvement in the Albany Movement, her many arrests for protesting, marching with William Moore, and participating in voter registration drives in many locations across the South.

- Description
- This is a small, paperback book of poetry. The book's front cover has a photograph of a single mist covered tree in the distance, framed by a grouping of clearer trees in the foreground. The photograph is featured in the lower half of the cover and is bordered in a narrow green line. Down the left side is a narrow green line, dividing the front cover background into two different colors. The left third is off-white and the right two-third is a light tan. Above the image, on the tan background, centered in the upper half, is the title in green text that reads "The/ Government/ of Nature." Below the image on the tan background, centered along the bottom, is the author, written in green text "Afaa Michael Weaver." - In August of 1946, workers from the Jones and Laughlin Steel Company walked off the job to protest discrimination in the workplace. Members of the United Steelworkers of America, union leaders, and representatives of Jones and Laughlin, as well as representatives from the Pittsburgh Mayor's office worked to come to a deal. The workers promised to go back to work the following day, but only once a Jones and Laughlin promised a full investigation of the discrimination claims.

- Description
- A black and white photograph of Bill "Bojangles" Robinson wearing long underwear and a brimmed hat while holding a striped cane. Robinson is standing in the entrance of a shower stall in a dressing room of the Stanley Theatre in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The back of the photograph has barcoded sticker with caption information.

- Description
- A black and white photograph of three Pittsburgh Courier paper boys. Two are seated on a bench while the third stands to the far left and is mostly hidden from view, save the bottom third of his smiling face and the right side of his body. The seated boys wear caps and black overcoats. The boy on the right smiles at the camera, while the boy in the center smiles, looking off camera, to the left. The boy in the middle also has a bag hanging from his proper right shoulder. To the far right, is a poster advertising a concert given by the Jubalaires on April 20th, 1947. The back of the photograph is blank.
