- Description
- This albumen print stereograph depicts the body of an unidentified deceased Confederate States of America soldier lying in a muddy trench with his head nearest the camera. Two people are standing above the trench in the background and are out of focus of the camera. The albumen print is adhered to yellow cardboard. The words "PHOTOGRAPHIC HISTORY" are printed vertically along the left edge of the mount, while the words "'THE WAR FOR THE UNION" are printed vertically on the right edge. Beneath the photograph is text reading "Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1865 by E. & H. T. Anthony & Co. in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the U.S. for the So. District of New York." A piece of blue paper is adhered to the reverse of the mount with a three cent stamp adhered to left side of the paper. Text printed on the paper in black ink indicates this photograph was taken on April 2, 1865 after the battle of Petersburg, Virginia.

- Description
- This photographic print stereograph depicts the bodies of two (2) deceased Confederate States of America soldiers lying in a trench. The first soldier is in the center foreground and is only partly visible, with most of his body buried under dirt and debris. The second soldier lies in the middle of the photograph with his feet nearest the camera. The tunnels of the trenches visible behind him. In the right foreground is a wooden cheval de frise. The photograph is adhered to orange cardboard. The words "PHOTOGRAPHIC HISTORY" are printed vertically along the right edge of the mount, while the words "'THE WAR FOR THE UNION" are printed vertically on the left edge. Handwritten in the top left corner in pencil is the text "REBEL FORT MAHONE". Printed text on the reverse of the mount indicates the photograph was taken of Fort Mahone after the battle of Petersburg, Virginia, in April 1865. It also includes the text "PUBLISHED BY E. & H. T. ANTHONY & CO.".

- Oliver W. Hill, Jr., Ph.D. discusses his father, civil rights lawyer Oliver Hill. He explains his father's childhood and education in Roanoke, Virginia, how he ended up at Howard University in the 1920s, where he was in the same class as Justice Thurgood Marshall and studied law under Charles Hamilton Houston. In the 1930s Oliver Hill, Sr. reunited with both of them to work for the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, which was focused on challenging segregation laws. Hill, Jr. describes his own experience as a black student integrating a white school in Richmond, Virginia, attending Howard University, becoming a psychology professor at Virginia State University, and working with Bob Moses on the Algebra Project. He also discusses the education of African American children, school reform, and student testing.

- Dorothy Foreman Cotton discusses growing up in rural North Carolina, attending Shaw University and Virginia State College, working as a housekeeper for the president of these colleges, Dr. Robert Prentiss Daniel, and meeting her husband, George Cotton. She discusses attending the Gillfield Baptist Church in Petersburg, Virginia, working with pastor Wyatt Tee Walker on organizing civil rights protests and meetings, and meeting Martin Luther King, Jr. She moved to Atlanta to assist Walker in his work with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, where she became Director of Education for the organization. At the Highlander Folk School, she met Septima Clark and Esau Jenkins and led the Citizenship Education Program. She also discusses the impact of King's assassination on the movement and the philosophy of nonviolence.

- Description
- Navy blue silk wedding dress with glass bead detailing. The dress has elbow length sleeves, a loose fitting bodice, and a drop waist. The dress is embroidered with glass beads, done in large roundels scattered across the dress. The neck and sleeve edges also have embroidered designs. There is a matching sash around the waist, fringed with the same beads as the embroidery. There are two snap fasteners at the neckline on the left shoulder.
