- Priscilla Tietjen Bassett recalls growing up in Plainfield, New Jersey, and attending Smith College, and Emmett W. Bassett, Ph. D. remembers growing up in Henry County, Virginia, serving in World War II, and attending Tuskegee Institute, where he assisted George Washington Carver with research. They tell how they met at a protest of a segregated restaurant in Massachusetts, raising money for Emmett Till's mother, their involvement in many civil rights groups in New York, and attending the March on Washington. They also discuss Dr. Bassett’s career as a professor of dairy science, Mrs. Bassett's career as a librarian, and their struggles as an interracial married couple.

- Union County Meet medal awarded to Eulace Peacock in 1935. The medal consists of a gold toned bar pin holding a red and white striped ribbon. The pin has a “C” clasp closure on the back and a bar that holds the ribbon. The ribbon is crimped to the front of the bar on either side. Attached to the bottom of the ribbon is an octagonal, gold colored medal held in place with two (2) jump rings. In a circular frame in the center of the obverse of the medal is a relief depiction of three (3) male athletes depicted in profile. All three athletes are nude and a facing the left side of the medal. They are standing on their proper left legs, with their proper right legs held horizontally to the ground behind them. Their proper right arms are extended in front of them and they hold their proper left arms their sides. The background surface of the metal is leather textured. The center of the reverse of the medal is inscribed ['35 / UNION COUNTY / MEET / SPRINT SERIES]. Along the bottom edge is a stamped maker’s mark that reads, [BRADSHAW / NEWARK / N.J.].

In the center of the obverse of the medal is a relief depiction of the Winged Victory of Samothrace statue on a rectangular plinth. Below the proper left wing of the headless statue is relief text that reads [UNION / COUNTY / MEET / 1926]. Next to the proper right leg of the statue is a laurel branch. On the reverse of the medal is a relief depiction of a laurel branch and an inscription that reads, [75 YD. / DASH / GS / Class B / Boys]. Along the bottom edge is a stamped maker’s mark for Dieges & Clust, an eagle’s head in profile above three spearhead shaped banners with the text [D], [&], and [C] stamped inside each banner. In the center is a relief bust depiction of the Greek god, Hermes, depicted profile, facing the left side of the medal. Hermes is wearing a winged helmet and a relief sunburst pattern surrounds him. Printed in relief around the edges of the medal is the text, [UNION / COUNTY / MEET] at the top and [1929] on the bottom. On the reverse of the medal, at the top center, is engraved text that reads [1st / G-S-A / R-B-J]. Along the bottom edge is a stamped maker’s mark that reads, [DODGE & ASCHER / CHICAGO / G.F.D.S.].

The athlete, depicted on the right, is kneeling in profile, facing the goddess depicted on the left edge of the medal. He is kneeling on his proper right knee. His proper left foot is planted and he rests his proper left arm on his thigh. His head is slightly bowed. The goddess is standing in profile with her proper left leg held slightly forward. She is a wearing flowing dress that covers one shoulder. Her proper right hand is extended holding a laurel wreath over the head of the athlete. Engraved text below reads [ATHLETICS 1928]. The center of the reverse of the medal is inscribed [F.A. DOLL AWARD / JAMES PEACOCK]. There are two (2) stamps on the bottom edge of the medal that reads [BRADSAW / NEWARK / N.J.] and [STERLING].

- Description
- A black Featherweight Portable 221 Singer sewing machine used by Yvonne DeVigne. The machine body is made of stainless steel, painted black with gold art deco style accents. There are also several unpainted sections of metal, including an elaborately stamped face plate with geometric art deco design. The base of the machine has a hinged section that can be lowered for use and raised for storage. The arm of the machine is attached to the base at its far PL edge. The motor of the machine sits just behind the arm, with a plastic belt running between it and the hand wheel. The motor casing is stamped with a black, red, and silver Singer logo and a plate with the motor's specifications on it. The plug port is on the base of the machine, just below the arm on the PL side. In front of the arm on the base of the machine is the machine's light switch toggle and the bobbin-winding thread guide. There is a gold colored stamped Singer Manufacturing plate just above the base on the arm of the machine. Above this is a vertically oriented silver stitch length regulator lever. The arm extends over the base, with a light, stamped [SINGER] in gold above the work area. The feed lever is threaded with yellow thread and there is a small piece of blue fabric with yellow stitching resting between the base of the machine and the presser foot.
