    Description
    Box signed by President Jimmy Carter containing one cuff link from a White House butler uniform worn by Eugene Allen. The white box is signed on the lid by Carter in green ink. The white box is slightly discolored. There is an insert inside the box with two (2) hand-made holes to secure cuff links. Only one cuff link is in the box and the second opening is empty.

    Description
    The 1985 20th Anniversary issue of Delegate magazine published by MelPat Associates. The cover has a white background featuring a grid of twenty-eight (28) portrait photographs. Under each photograph the name of the man or woman pictured is printed in red. At the upper left of the cover is a red ribbon badge with white text on a black background. It reads [1985]. To the right of the ribbon is [DELEGATE] in decorative blue & white block lettering with [20th ANNIVERSARY] printed underneath in red. Red text in the lower right corner reads [WASHINGTON / The Seat of / Government / & Education / 1900-1985 / Page 359]. The spine of the magazine is white with blue text that reads [DELEGATE, 1985 - The 9th Year of the 3rd Century].
    The magazine’s content opens with an untitled editorial note recounting the events since the first issue of Delegate was published in 1965. This is followed by a masthead, set in white text against a black background reading [DELEGATE, 1983], and a table of contents.
    The content then continues with profiles of African American business organizations, business leaders, events, community organizations, sororities, fraternities, doctors, dentists, politicians, actors, and journalists. This includes the NAACP, National Urban League, Bottle and Cork Club, Sigma Phi Rho Fraternity, National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education, Black Achievers in Industry, The Northeasterners, National Association of Black Women Attorneys, The Beaux Arts Ball, Interracial Council for Business Opportunity, National Urban Affairs Council, Raymond A.     Description
    Four identical gold-colored commemorative coins made for Barack Obama's first Presidential Inauguration. The front of the coins depicts Barack Obama in front of the U.S. Capitol. Raised letters appear on front of coin, reading “ZANZIBAR ON THE WATERFRONT / DREAM / ACHIEVED / BARACK OBAMA / 44th PRESIDENT.” The reverse side of the coins is painted black, yellow, and red. At the center of reverse side is the logo for Zanzibar on the Waterfront.     The magazine’s content opens on the first page with an untitled editorial note recounting events of the past year, including the failed mayoral campaign of Percy Sutton, affirmative action, and the disappointments of the Carter administration. There is also a masthead, set in white text against a bright blue background reading [DELEGATE, 1977], followed by a table of contents.

    Description
    Black and white photographic bust length portrait of Madam C.J. Walker. Sitting sideways, her head is turned slightly right towards the viewer. Her gaze is to the lower right. Her hair is smooth, parted in the middle, and falls to ear length, and tucked under. She wears drop earrings and a necklace. An intricately fringed shawl is draped around her shoulders and held in place by a brooch. The bottom left quadrant of the image is partially shadowed.     Description
    A wooden mallet used to shape and work hats owned by Yvonne DeVigne. The head of the mallet is cylindrical and covered in paper or rawhide. The handle of the mallet is carved wood. The handle narrows to a peg at the end that is inserted through the mallet head. Overall the mallet is well worn from use.
