- Description
- This black and red leather jacket was worn by Kurtis Blow on the cover of his album "Deuce" (1981). The motorcycle style jacket has full-length sleeves, a stand-up collar, and closes at the center front with a black zipper and five (5) metal snaps painted red. There is a red leather racing strip down each sleeve that extends onto the shoulders, with the collar also faced in red leather. The sleeves taper slightly at the wrist, ending in elastic cuffs. The waistline of the jacket body also has an elastic edge. The elastic on the waist and cuffs is sewn inside the black leather so it does not show. There are two (2) exterior diagonally oriented inset pockets, one at each front hip, that are edged with the red leather and lined with black acetate fabric.
- The interior of the jacket body and sleeves are fully lined with the black acetate fabric. There is one (1) interior inset pocket at the proper left breast that is edged in black leather and closes with a black zipper. There is a designer label at the interior center back neck made of white fabric with maroon machine embroidered stitching that reads "M. Julian". A size tag is sewn to the center bottom of the designer label reading "38". There are three (3) additional tags sewn into the proper right side seam with size, fiber content, and care instructions typed onto the cream fabric in brown text. There is a cream fabric hanger loop sewn at the interior center back neck.

- Description
- A handmade tank top using cotton t-shirt material. The front is blue, the back is green, and there are burgundy details. The name "LYTE" is hand-appliqued at the front chest in burgundy cotton. The same fabric is used to lace and tie the shoulders, to lace the center front v-neck, and with one single tie at the top of each side. The proper left side has green fabric lacing and the proper right side has blue fabric lacing that attaches the front to the back and is knotted at the bottom.

- Description
- Academic regalia consisting of a robe (.1), a hood (.2), and a cap (.3) in blue and silver from Spelman College worn by Dr. Johnnetta Betsch Cole.
- .1: A blue academic robe with woven tape decorations. The robe is made from a blue polyester cotton blend fabric. Panels of blue woven tape with a cream design of zigzag lines is attached at the center opening of the front sides and around the neck. Three (3) thinner bands of blue woven tape with a cream design of stripes are attached on each sleeve. The robe closes at the center front with a blue metal zipper. There is one (1) black male snap at the center front approximately three inches below the neck opening for securing the hood (.2) to the robe. There are two (2) black eyes, one on each shoulder midway between the neck and sleeve seams, possibly for securing a stole or other regalia around the shoulders of the wearer. There are two (2) exterior inset pockets, one at each side waist, lined in blue synthetic fabric. The robe is self-lined and there is a designer label at the center back interior neck made from white fabric with black machine-embroidered text that reads: "Olivia / ORIGINAL".
- .2: A blue and white academic hood with woven tape decoration. One side of the hood is faced in blue synthetic fabric and trimmed with a band of blue woven tape with a cream design of zigzags. The other side is faced in white satin with a blue satin chevron stripe midway down the hood. There is one (1) female snap at the center front neck portion of the hood to secure it to the robe (.1). Two (2) black buttons connected by a twisted cord are sewn at the back opening area of the hood to ensure that the satin portion of the hood remains open and visible.
- .3: A soft blue academic cap. The hexagonal cap is made from a blue polyester cotton blend fabric. A gold metal tassel is looped around a gold bobble at the center top of the cap and tacked in place at the edge of the cap. A band of blue woven tape with a cream design of alternating stripes and diamonds is sewn around the opening on the bottom of the cap. This band is lined with black grosgrain ribbon. The cap is lined with the same blue fabric with a small amount of batting between the layers to create a padded shape. A designer label is sewn at the center interior of the cap made from white fabric with black machine-embroidered text that reads: "Olivia / ORIGINAL".

- A Team USA white, red, and, blue, Olympic track suit worn by Briana Scurry during the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. The track suit is made by Adidas and consists of a jacket and pants.
- 2015.58.4.1: The jacket is predominantly white, with blue sleeves and red trim. An Adidas logo appears on the proper right corner of the chest. A 2004 US Olympic Team logo appears on the proper left corner of the chest. The logo is a circular laurel wreath with [USA] and the Olympic rings in the center and [TEAM 2004] underneath. At the mid-section the fabric overhangs and a netted opening is underneath the flap. A zipper runs the length of the center of the jacket with a zipper pull at both the top and the bottom of the jacket. The sleeves have red and white stripes on the side and a flap that reveals some of the interior netted lining. The proper left sleeve has a circular gold button that has the Olympic rings at the center, above the cuff on the back of the sleeve. The back of the jacket is predominantly white. A larger 2004 US Olympic Team logo appears on the center of the back of the jacket. An American flag appears on back of collar. At the mid-section the fabric overhangs and a netted opening is underneath the flap. The interior has a netted lining and tags. The tag found at the collar indicates the jacket's size and maker. The other tags on the interior side include manufacturing information and care instructions. There is also a patch on the interior that reads: [2004 U.S. Olympic TEAM / We salute you, the participant, as you represent our country in Greece, the birthplace of the Olympic games]. The patch also includes the US Olympic Team logo, the Adidas logo and a place to put the owner's name.
- 2015.58.4.2: The pants are predominantly dark blue, with red and white vertical stripes at sides. The proper right pant leg has a white Adidas logo on the front. The proper left pant leg has a white US Olympic Team logo on the front. The proper left hip has a circular gold button that has the Olympic rings at the center, identical to the button on the proper left sleeve of the jacket. Each pant leg has a zipper that runs from the bottom of the pant to about mid-calf on the back. There is a CLIMACOOL logo on the back of the proper left side of the pant, below the waistband. The interior has netted lining and a tag with size and maker. There is a [1] written in hand in marker in the lower right of the tag.

- A New York Yankees Mariano Rivera jersey.
- This is an away game jersey- grey with navy and white details. The jersey has a slight v-neck. There are two (2) buttons at the top and four (4) buttons going from the middle down to the bottom of the jersey on the proper right side. The bands of the sleeves have three (3) stripes- navy on the top and bottom and white in the middle. The words [NEW YORK] are sewn on across the chest, with "NEW" on the proper right and "YORK" on the proper left. The letters are navy with a white border. On the lower proper right side of the jersey there is a white manufacturer's label. There is a red dotted rectangle which contains the Major League Baseball logo in red and navy, the word [Authentic] in a red script with navy outlining, and the word [COLLECTION {TM}] underneath "Authentic" in grey. Under the rectangle there is the Majestic logo in red and navy along with the words [Majestic {R} ATHLETIC] in navy. There are two (2) smaller labels underneath the manufacturer's label- a rectangle shaped label with the year [2009] printed in black ink and a square label with the number [46] sewn on with black thread.
- The proper left sleeve has a patch in the lower center near the stripes. It is a circular patch with an image of Yankee stadium in white, tan, and navy. There is a white, tan, and gold scroll banner underneath with the year [2009] in navy. The center circle is navy and there are five (5) rings around it- (from the center to the outer level: tan, white, gold, white, and navy). In the top half of the yellow ring are the words [YANKEE STADIUM] in navy, and the words [INAUGURAL SEASON] in the bottom half.
- The back of the jersey has a red, white, and navy MLB logo at the neck. There is a large number [42] sewn on in the center of the upper back. The numbers are navy with a white border. The signature [Mariano Rivera #42] is written in silver marker in the number "4". At the bottom of the number "4" there is an oval sticker. [X34638] is typed in black in inside of a rectangle. Behind the rectangle there is an unidentifiable signature in red.

- This commencement gown originally belonged to writer and anthropologist Zora Neale Hurston. Hurston was a member of Barnard College's graduating class of 1928. Her degree was conferred on February 29, 1928; however, Hurston did not participate in the commencement ceremony. Having completed her coursework and obtained funding, she sold the cap and gown before leaving New York to conduct anthropological research in Florida. Her fellow anthropology classmate Lucy Kramer purchased the regalia from Hurston and wore the gown during commencement. Kramer had to alter the hem so that the gown could fit her four foot, ten inch frame, but Hurston's monogram remains intact in the yoke of the gown.
- Description
- A commencement gown purchased by Zora Neale Hurston, for the 1928 Barnard College commencement ceremony. The gown is long and black with wide, long, pointed sleeves. The robes have a rounded collar and opens at the front into a “V.” Down the front hems are five (5) closures: four (4) hooks (1 missing) and (5) eyes. The front hems of the robes are embellished with a vertical folds of fabric. The sleeves are gathered at the shoulders and on either side of the chest. A black tag is stitched to the inside of the collar. It is embroidered with gold text reading "COX SONS AND VINING / 131-133 [loss] ST / NEW [loss]." Below the tag, pieces of fabric with the monogram letters "Z," "N," and "H" have been stitched in. There are two (2) cape ties attached to the interior of the robes at the shoulders. The back of the gown is heavily gathered at the seams of both sleeves and at the mid-back. Also on the back is a hood fastener constructed from a fabric covered button and a plied cord.

- Description
- A pair of men's boudoir slippers in a stars and stripes design attributed to Elizabeth Keckley. The slippers were likely commissioned by Mrs. Gideon Welles to be presented to her husband, Hon. Gideon Welles, Secretary of the Navy under President Lincoln. The slippers are crocheted in stripes of red and white from the toe to the heel. Across the top of the vamp is a blue band embroidered with scattered white stars. The throat of the slippers is edged in a twisted blue and red cord. The slippers have a flat, leather sole and a squarish toe.

- Description
- This suit consists of a jacket (.1) and pants (.2) worn by Dr. Jamal Harrison Bryant to a protest in Ferguson, Missouri. The jacket (.1) is a black wool single-breasted blazer with a notched lapel and full-length straight sleeves. It closes at the center front with two (2) round black plastic buttons. There are two (2) inset pockets with straight flap tops, one at each front side waist, and one (1) welt pocket at the proper left breast. Four (4) round black plastic decorative buttons are sewn at sleeve cuff. There is a single vent at the back. The body of the jacket is fully lined in a black rayon and polyester blend fabric, while the sleeves are lined in a white and gray pinstripe rayon and polyester blend fabric. There are two (2) welt pockets, one at each interior breast, with one (1) welt pen pocket below the proper left breast pocket and above the one (1) welt pocket at the interior proper left waist. A manufacturer's label is sewn at the interior proper right front below the breast pocket, with one (1) spare button also sewn below the breast pocket. The wool manufacturer's label is sewn at the interior proper left front above the waist pocket, with a fiber content, style, and care tag sewn inside the interior proper left breast pocket. A hanger loop is sewn at the interior center back neck.
- The black wool pants (.2) have straight full-length legs and close at the center front waist with a black metal zipper, one (1) round black plastic button around a tab, and one (1) flat metal hook-and-eye. The front closure is hidden by a placket. Six (6) self-fabric belt loops are sewn around the waistband. There are two (2) inset pockets, one at each front side waist, and two (2) welt pockets, one at each back side below the waist. Each back pocket closes with one (1) round black plastic button. The pockets and waistband are lined in a black twill stripe rayon fabric. A manufacturer's label is sewn at the interior proper right back waist, with a fiber content, style, and care tag sewn at the interior proper right front closure seam.

- Description
- These oxford wingtip shoes were worn by Dr. Jamal Harrison Bryant to a protest in Ferguson, Missouri. The shoes are made from black leather with an applied camouflage design in metallic silver, green, and brown. They lace with black braided cord shoelaces. The soles are made from black rubber with three (3) indented lines molded into the rubber around the sides of the shoes, getting thinner nearer the toes. The soles have a molded non-skid rubber pattern. The interiors of the shoes are lined in tan leather, with the manufacturer's name stamped on the insoles near the heel.
