This is a rectangular off-white paper certificate of sale between H.S. Trowbridge and J.& P. N. Hanna.
Obverse: The certificate is dated "Febru 16 1875" in the top right corner. The central printed text reads "Bought of J. & P.N. Hanna/ Importers of/ Woodberry Cotton Duck, Flax Canvas, Ravens etc./ All Widths of Cotton Canvas/ Grain [illegible] Wool Bags, Flax Fleece & Cotto Twines, Roofing, Sheathing & Boiler Felt./ Nos. 308 & 310 Davis Street/ Lith. G.T. Brown & Co.S.F." There is a stamp in blue ink running verticley along the left hand margin that reads "Egarton, Allen & Co./ Feb 17 1875/ San Francisco."
This is a rectangular off-white paper stock certificate for one hundred shares in the El Dorado South Consolidated Mining Company.
Obverse: Bordered by a thick line with a double serrated edge and scrolls at the corners, theis certificate has the compnay name in the top center of the page that reads "EL DORADO SOUTH/ CONSOLIDATED MINING/ COMPANY/ San Francisco." Handwritten in ink is the date "Aug 29th 1878." The line following reads "[in printed caligraphy]This Certifies that [handwritten in ink] James Coffin Trustee is/ entitled to [handwritten]One hundred [in printed caligraphy] shares in the Capital Stock of the/ EL DORADO SOUTH CONSOLIDATED MINING CO./ Tranferable on the books of the Company by endorsement heron and surrendering this Certificate." There are two oval roundels in the upper corners, surrounded by decorative foliate scrolling. The upper left roundel has the words "NUMBER/ 3496" and the upper right reads "100/SHARES." At the bottom center
of the certificate are the words "INCORPORATED/ APRIL 9th/ 1872/ Belmont NYE COUNTY, NEV." There is decorative design on the lower left side. At the botton margin, tothe left of center is the signature "L.[?]A. Sankey" and to the right of center bottom margin is the signature "John Gray."
This is a rectangular off-white paper stock certificate.
Obverse: Bordered by a decorative pattern that features a modified floral and half circle. The name of the company "ROCK ISLAND" is in large letters centered in the middle of the rectangle. The words "GOLD & SILVER MINING COMPANY." The certificate is made out to "Ja's Coffin [illegible]/ Twenty (20)." Along the top the certificate is dated "Sept 12th 1876."
Reverse: There are several stamps, in blue ink. The top stamp reads “Assessment No.___Paid/ Jun 21, 1877/_____Secretary." The first blank space is filled with a handwritten "12" while the second blank space is filled with a handwritten signature "JWClark. The bottom stamp reads "Assessment No. ____ Paid/Feb 9 1878/ ______/Secretary." The first blank space is filled with "13” while the second blank space is filled with a handwritten signature "JWClark." There is the signature "James Coffin" is large handwritten letters underneath these stamps.
