- In 1967, the New York State Athletic Commission suspended Muhammad Ali’s boxing license in response to his refusal to be inducted into the draft on the grounds of his religious beliefs as a minister of Islam. Ali successfully took the Commission to court, claiming discrimination in violation of his rights under the Equal Protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. This photograph documents his time in the 5th Street Gymnasium in 1971, soon after his license was reinstated. According to Miami sports journalist Roy Firestone, Ali was training for his March 8, 1971 match against Joe Frazier at Madison Square Garden that was billed as “The Fight of the Century.”

- Green narrow ticket for the World Heavyweight Championship of Sonny Liston versus Cassius Clay (Muhammad Ali). Ticket is divided two thirds of the way from the left by a large rectangle box featuring two (2) black and white portraits of the boxers. There are seven (7) punched holes throughout the ticket. Five (5) of the punched holes are cross shaped while the other two (2) are crown shaped. Most of the ticket is in black ink with the seat section, number, and ticket price in red ink. On the back of the ticket is a legal statement about the ticket stating that the ticket is good only for the date listed with no refunds available.

- In 1967, the New York State Athletic Commission suspended Muhammad Ali’s boxing license in response to his refusal to be inducted into the draft on the grounds of his religious beliefs as a minister of Islam. Ali successfully took the Commission to court, claiming discrimination in violation of his rights under the Equal Protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. This photograph documents his time in the 5th Street Gymnasium in 1971, soon after his license was reinstated. According to Miami sports journalist Roy Firestone, Ali was training for his March 8, 1971 match against Joe Frazier at Madison Square Garden that was billed as “The Fight of the Century.”

His tapped right hand punches up towards a speed bag, while his tapped left hand is in a fist at his chest. Onlookers and other trainees are visible in the background. The back of the photograph has copyright and photographer information.

- A hardcover book titled Sociology of Sport. The book, written by Harry Edwards contains 395 pages and includes text and photographs. The cover of the book is white, gray, black and red. The title is in black print in the upper right of the cover and Edwards name is in white ink in the bottom left. The back cover of the book is white with black text at the bottom that reads: [1710001 /ISBN 0-256-01415-9]. The bottom edge and top edge of the book have a red stamp from the Miami-Dade Junior College Library. There are additional stamps from the library on the first two pages of the book. There is an alphanumeric inscription in the top left corner of the copyright page. The back interior cover of the book has a slip holder and two stickers from the library.
