This document is from a collection of financial papers related to the plantation operations of several generations of the Rouzee Family in Essex County, Virginia. The papers date from the 1790s through 1860.
This half size, single page, double-sided handwritten document is a payment receipt received from Apphia Rouzee, executrix of Richard Rouzee, for "the carriage of two familyes [sic] of negroes to Culpepper." The document is dated January 1808. A second note at the bottom is dated April 27, 1808. Writing on the reverse side notes the amount due was paid out as thirty (30) dollars cash in July of that year.
