The Slave Wrecks Project work being conducted in the U.S. Virgin Islands is spearheaded by two core partners, the National Park Service: Submerged Resources Center and the Southeast Archaeological Center, and was developed in close collaboration with the St. Croix National Park Service and NMAAHC. Current sites include the Christiansted National Historic Site and the Salt River Bay National Historical Park and Ecological Preserve. The SWP has coordinated archaeological and anthropological field schools, ethnographic work, and community engagement on St. Croix.
