We are so excited that you want to make the National Museum of African American History and Culture a part of your classroom!
As we celebrate our Grand Opening year, we are looking forward to greeting visitors of all ages especially, our student audience. Our museum, which tells the American story through the African American lens, has artifacts and stories to illuminate many areas of the K-12 curriculum. To enhance your learning experience we will have docents giving gallery introductions, abundant audio-visual within galleries, interactives, and a museum mobile app with expanded stories.
The historic significance and high visibility of the museum are attracting an unprecedented number of local, national, and international visitors. Due to this level of interest, the museum has implemented a Timed Entry Pass system to serve as many visitors as possible while maintaining a secure, safe and smooth flow of people into the museum.
For the immediate future student groups will be self-guided. Formal gallery programs for school groups are in development. If you would like to receive updates regarding educator programs, student programs, and other related events sign up on our Educator's Contact List. Registering for email notifications will not secure timed-entry passes or register you for any type of tour.
Schedule Your School Group Visit
Schools can schedule their visit up to one year in advance. Reservations are required for all school groups visiting the Museum.
