The hat has a high crown with a blue petersham ribbon hat band secured with adhesive. A decorative metal buckle covered in blue velvet is placed on the proper right side of the hat and is secured with adhesive. A blue petersham ribbon is looped through the buckle with the ends of the ribbon extending towards the back of the hat. The hat's brim is short and fits close to the face.
