- A red silk velvet beret. The top of the crown is flat and wide. The sides of the crown taper in slightly inwards at the bottom. The sides of the hat are made from red velvet cut on the bias with a seam at the center back. The thin hat band is made from bias cut velvet with buckram at the hat's interior acting as a stiffener. The inside of the hat is lined in silk faille with the sides of the crown and the brim cut on the bias. The hat has an inner sweatband made of rayon petersham ribbon. Machine stitches are used on both the interior and exterior of the hat for all the seams and the rayon ribbon.
