- Description
- A pink cap with a rose and feathers. The brimless hat is made of blocked low-pile pink fur felt. Two strips of pink synthetic (possibly acetate) satin are pleated and intertwined along the circumference of the hat's exterior to create a braid-like appearance. Satin strips are attached to the hat with tacking stitches. A rose and leaves made of the same pink satin are attached at proper left side of the hat with a combination of tacking stitches and straight pins. The petals have been secured with adhesive. The stem is made of a metal wire wrapped in pink floral tape and attached to the crown with tacking stitches. There are five satin leaves with wired midribs secured into the stem and arranged next to the rose. A sprig of thin pink feathers is attached beneath the satin rose with adhesive. Pearl and glitter beads incorporated into the stem are arranged at the proper left side of rose. Fur felt covered metal grips are at the proper right and proper left sides. Wire is attached along the circumference of hat's interior and is bent in a backwards in a “L” shape at either side to create the grips. A pink petersham ribbon is machine stitched to a band of felt at the hat's interior. A paper covered metal wire is attached along the edge of the felt with zig zag stitching. The hat has a woven label at the center back that reads [Frank R. Jelleff // INC. NEW YORK // WASHINGTON D.C.]. A printed label at the top of the crown at the interior reads [FUR FELT // BODY BY // Mallory] around an escutcheon bearing a lion.
