- Description
- A striped dress with a cowl collar and matching belt. The dress (a) has a shift silhouette, and a double lined cowl collar. The cowl collar is made of wool crepe and is slightly open at the proper left side with two pointed edges at the front and back. The set in long sleeves are made of black wool crepe and are tapered and gathered at the cuffs. The cuffs are made of striped wool and have small slits along the interior seams. They are stiffened with interfacing and backed with black wool crepe. The body of the dress is made of red, blue, green, and black striped woven wool. Two self-fabric belt loops are set into the side seams at the waistline. An inseam pocket is sewn underneath each belt loop on either side, and they are lined with black wool crepe. The side seams at the bottom of the dress are left unstitched, creating slits. The back of the dress mirrors the construction of the front. The interior of the dress is unlined but has shoulder pads made of buckram and felt which are hand basted together. The matching belt (b) has a plastic buckle with a metal prong at one end of the belt. Three metal grommets are set into the other side of the belt. The exterior of the belt is made of the same striped wool fabric used for the dress but set on the bias. The back of the belt is lined with black wool crepe and has a plastic band inserted at the interior for stiffening.
