- Description
- A black-and-white photograph of Eva Stewart Northrup, great niece of Harriet Tubman, at the plantation in Cambridge, Maryland where Tubman was enslaved. Northrup is pictured in a hat and wide-striped coat over a dark dress, her proper right hand on a the handle of a cast iron well water hand pump. In the background is a field with trees in the distance and another woman at far left. On the back are handwritten inscriptions [Eva at Cambridge Md.] in graphite and [This is the plantation / in Cambridge Maryland where Aunt Harriet was / held a slave] and [When she spoke at the High / school + present / Aunt Harriets / picture / 19], both in blue ink.
