- This is a will dated September 23, 1736 from the Caribbean Island of Antigua. Within it, Joseph Rickett grants his brother, Edward his belongings, amongst them, the enslaved individuals he owns.
- Description
- A handwritten will for Joseph Rickett of Antigua dated September 23, 1736. The right side of the front of the document is a formal will written by Joseph Rickett granting his brother his [money Depts goods Houses Lands negroes and claims].
- The middle quadrant on the left side of the document states [Recorded in the Secrys Office of Antigua this 14 July 1737] and has an illegible signature beneath this statement.
- On the upper portion on the back of the document Samuel Hoskins and Joseph MacEnnery signed as witnesses to the signing, sealing, and delivering of this document. Joseph Rickett signed to left of these signatures.
- Beneath this is a legal binding agreement signed by Samuel Watkins and Joseph MacEnnery.
- This document has been previously folded once lengthwise, and twice widthwise, showing four separate vertical quadrants on each side of the document.
- The upper left quadrant of the verso has scattered deep red stains.
