- This document is from a collection of financial papers related to the plantation operations of several generations of the Rouzee Family in Essex County, Virginia. The papers date from the 1790s through 1860.

- This payment receipt describes the amount and method of payment given to Mrs. Apphia Rouzee by Mr. William Noel for "Negroe Hire" for the year 1801 and prior to 1801 by Mr. Evan Brown. A one page, single-sided document of faded black ink handwritten on paper. On the back of the document is written "Evan Brown."
