This document is from a collection of financial papers related to the plantation operations of several generations of the Rouzee Family in Essex County, Virginia. The papers date from the 1790s through 1860.
Description
This is an accounting document for the estate of the late Richard Rouzee consisting of a list of names and amounts. At the bottom right it is signed by Evan Brown with a flourish and at the bottom left is the signature of witness Ralph Rouzee. The reverse states "List of bonds taken for the hire of the negroes + receipts given by E. Brown for the year 1798." Both sides are handwritten in black ink. The paper is uneven at the top and has been folded many times.
