- This document is from a collection of financial papers related to the plantation operations of several generations of the Rouzee Family in Essex County, Virginia. The papers date from the 1790s through 1860.
- Description
- This is an accounting document for the estate of the late Richard Rouzee consisting of a list of names and amounts. At the bottom right it is signed by Evan Brown with a flourish and at the bottom left is the signature of witness Ralph Rouzee. The reverse states "List of bonds taken for the hire of the negroes + receipts given by E. Brown for the year 1798." Both sides are handwritten in black ink. The paper is uneven at the top and has been folded many times.
