- This document is from a collection of financial papers related to the plantation operations of several generations of the Rouzee Family in Essex County, Virginia. The papers date from the 1790s through 1860.
- Description
- This handwritten, single page document is a tax account for the estate of John Rouzee for the year 1824. This documents lists "27 slaves and 4 horses, 23 levies, 479/4 acres of land, 1.30 acres of land." The amounts due for each are recorded in a column on the right side of the page, totaling forty-nine (49) dollars and fifty-nine (59) cents paid in full by Edward Rouzee. The bottom and opposite side also contain numerical equations and notations.
