- This document is from a collection of financial papers related to the plantation operations of several generations of the Rouzee Family in Essex County, Virginia. The papers date from the 1790s through 1860.
- Description
- This handwritten, single page document is an account of taxes owed by John Rouzee for the year 1813. The taxable property is listed as "34 negroes," four hundred and ninety-seven (497) acres of land, twenty-nine (29) levies at seventy-nine (79) cents each, six hundred and thiry-nine (639) acres beloning to the Richard Rouzee Estate. The total tax amount of twent (20) dollars and forty-one (41) cents was paid in full by Edward Rouzee October 27, 1813. On the reverse is written "1813 Oct." Both sides are written in black ink.
