- This document is from a collection of financial papers related to the plantation operations of several generations of the Rouzee Family in Essex County, Virginia. The papers date from the 1790s through 1860.
- Description
- This handwritten, single page is document is a payment request and receipt for W. Robert Hord for room and board provided by Mary R. Carter. The itemized accounting lists "Board of Lady, Self, Child, three (3) young ladies, and two (2) Servants." The total amount due came to ten (10) dollars and was payed in full September 12, 1829. The receipt is signed by Charles S. Carter for Mary R. Carter. The document is written in black ink and there are vertical red lines on the paper. There is no writing on the reverse.
