- Description
- A softcover edition of the Piscataqua Papers; Gardening from the Merrimack to the Kennebec published by the Piscataqua Garden Club. The softcover book has an adhesive binding. The front cover features a large white and yellow scrolled frame on the front cover, set against a green background. At the top of the frame is a black, white, and yellow sun with human facial features and at the bottom are black, white, and yellow mirror images of two sea serpents with their tails wound around the sides of the frame. The right and left sides of the frame are decorated with black-and-white illustrations of flowers, an ear of corn, and grapes. The title of the book is printed within the frame in black text of varying sizes and fonts that read [PISCATAQUA / PAPERS / Gardening / from the / Merrimack / to the / Kennebec]. The spine is green with the abbreviated title printed in black text that reads, [PISCATAQUA PAPERS]. The back cover of the book is white with a centered black-and-white illustration of a floral spray and three gardening tools. Below is an illustration of a draped banner with black text across the front that reads [PISCATAQUA GARDEN CLUB]. Printed inside the front and back covers are black-and-white illustrations of a map of New England. The interior pages are white with black text and a few black-and-white illustrations. The contents are divided into six sections titled [HISTORY AND EARLY GARDENS], [PRACTICAL HORTICULTURE], [FLOWER ARRANGING], [INDOOR GARDENING], [NATURAL HISTORY] and [A GARDENER’S CALENDAR]]. There are also charts on seed varieties and a growing instructions. The book has 148 pages.
