- An Ebony magazine, September 1963 Special Issue, featuring the cover article, “In Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation,” Vol. XVIII No. 11. The front cover features a reproduction of a black-and-white lithograph of Frederick Douglass, set against a black background. The image has a small caption to the right with white text that reads, [FREDERICK DOUGLASS / Father Of The / Protest Movement]. The cover line is printed in gold text to the left and below the image of Douglass that reads [In Commemoration / of the / 100th Anniversary of / THE EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION]. In the upper left corner is the publication mast head, a gold outlined banner with gold block lettering that reads: [EBONY]. Above the mast head is gold text that reads [A JOHNSON PUBLICATION 9[encircled]]. To the right of the mast head. The bottom right of the front cover has a partial white address label sticker with black type. The back cover of the magazine features a full sized color advertisement for Camel cigarettes. There are two hundred and thirty-four (234) interior pages with color and black-and-white images, illustrations, and text.
