- Description
- A silver plated decorative bowl from the Rock Rest Tourist Home. The bowl is round with a wide, flat lip, and a footed base. The lip is decorated with an alternating fleur-de-lis and dart pattern along the edge. The body of the bowl is slotted with the metal strips alternating between thin plain strips and a wider strips decorated with a relief foliate pattern. At the flat center of the bowl is a stamped floral pattern that repeats three times. The exterior sides of the bowl and pedestal are smooth and plain. The pedestal attaches at the base of the of bowl and is decorated at the top with two concentric stepped bands. The hallow pedestal narrows at the center and then tapers outwards at the base. Printed in relief, molded text on the bottom of the bowl is [MADE IN OCCUPIED JAPAN] below a stylized rising sun.
