- Description
- A framed painting of the New York City skyline from the Rock Rest Tourist Home. In the center foreground of the painting is a large white boat with two decks that are crowded with people. A large American flag hangs from the stern of the boat. Written on the side of the bow is the name of the boat, [SIGHTSEER], and [SIGHTSEEING YACHTS] is written across the port side. A second smaller boat is in the right foreground. The smaller boat also has a flag hanging from its stern. On the shoreline is a street, FDR Drive, that spans across the midground of the painting and includes elevated sections. Behind the street is a series of buildings of various shapes and sizes. There is one red and white deco-style skyscraper on the far left. Three white skyscrapers are at the center of the painting: two are deco-style and the third one, the United Nations Secretariat Building, is a rectangular building with four panels of black windows. In front of the United Nations Secretariat Building is a long flat building, lined with flags on the roof. The skyscrapers on the right are brown and there is also a pair of white stepped towers. Just left of the United Nations Secretariat Building is the entrance to East 42nd Street.
