- Description
- A watercolor painting of the 30th Street Station in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by George M. Victory, from the Rock Rest Tourist Home. The painting depicts the main concourse of the 30th Street Station. At the center of the painting are six Corinthian columns flanked on either side by two pairs of Art Deco chandeliers. Behind the columns are cathedral panels of windows with narrow rectangular panes and five recessed doors. In front of the panel is a low white wall with aisle that leads to the center door and terminates at a trellis arch. Both sides of the painting are lined with wooden benches There are potted trees and flowers along the sidewalls and along the back wall in front of the columns. Above is a red and gold coffered ceiling. Along the bottom right edge is the artist’s signature that reads [GEO. M. VICTORY]. The painting is mounted in a molded wooden frame.
