Description
A mini sewing kit found in the sewing basket of the Rock Rest Tourist Home. The small, pink, plastic kit is rectangular in shape with rounded corners and opens to reveal two interior compartments on the left and right sides. The case has a molded plastic snap closure at the center on one long side and a molded plastic hinge on the other. Attached to one of the short ends is a small, rusted, silver tone, snap hook keychain threaded through the plastic molded bezel at the top. Printed on the front of the sewing kit is gold text that reads [OnTour[encircled] / SEWING KIT]. The back is plain. Two loose items inside the case include a pair of small sewing scissors with a red plastic handle and finger holes (2011.12.9.3b), and a small piece of foam, with two sewing needle is inserted (2011.12.9.3c). One needle has a piece of black thread threaded through it and wrapped around one end of the foam. Inside the kit, on the left side, is a blue plastic backing (2011.12.9.3d) that holds two safety pins (2011.12.9.3e), two plastic pearl buttons (2011.12.9.3f), and one metal snap button cap (2011.12.9.3g). On the right is a small, flat, blue cardboard spool organizer (2011.12.9.3h) wrapped with seven differently colored threads which includes brown, light blue, red, dark blue, gray, white, and black thread. A silver tone needle threader (2011.12.9.3i) with an image of a Greco-Roman woman shown in profile, stamped into the plate handle, has been woven through the threads.
