- In 1979, Brig. Gen. Hazel Johnson-Brown became the first African American woman general in the history of the U.S. military and the first African American woman to be appointed chief of the Army Nurse Corps.
- Description
- Green US Army Nurse's dress uniform skirt worn by Brigadier General Hazel Johnson-Brown. The pencil skirt is made of olive green polyester and falls just below the knee. It closes on the proper left side with a metal zipper and a green plastic button tab closure. An interior button closure is fastened around a loop of green cording. The skirt is fully lined with green polyester, with the lining material and the facing material only attached at the waist. The hem is reinforced with the green lining material around the interior. There is a hanger loop at the interior proper left waist near the zip closure.
