A deep purple-reddish brown carte-de-visite of an unidentified woman by J. H. Emerson in Keokuk, Iowa. The full-length portrait captures the woman wearing a floor-length, dark color dress with sleeves. She stands with her right hand on the base of a column with a drape pulled back behind her. The photograph is on a rectangular mat frame and backing. On the back of the photograph, stamped in the center with black ink is [J.H. EMERSON, PHOTOGRAPHER, / KEOKUK, IOWA.].
