- Description
- A framed trio of ink mezzotints of a female figure by Eldzier Cortor, one bordered in orange, one in grey, and one in blue. Depicted in a sculptural style is a dark haired woman wearing a large bright beaded necklace, earring and geometric print top. Her head and neck are surrounded by large art deco florals bearing highly detailed shading and geometry. The few pockets of empty space between the woman and the plants are colored neon green. A series of borders frame the aquatint figure, from inner to outermost: white, neon orange, and white. Two other renditions of the same female figure are affixed to the right; the middle aquatint more darkly shaded with a bright pink background and grey border; the last aquatint shaded significantly more grayscale, with a gray background and blue border. The artist’s signature [Eldzier Cortor] is written beneath the blue bordered lady, and the title [“TRIO LADY WITH FOLIAGE”] is written beneath the grey bordered lady. The cardboard backing of the frame features a handwritten description of the front aquatint: [3 PRINTS / “TRIO LADY WITH FOLIAGE” / ELDZIER CORTOR / MEZZOTINT / ENTALIO / 18 ½” x 30”].
