- Description
- A three-tone mezzotint of female faces by Eldzier Cortor. Depicted in two parts, framed by a silver color border, from left to right: Two grayscale women, one in profile with a bright earring, the other looking forward with a bright head wrap, one of her eyes visible, a brightly shaded nut or fruit at her clavicle, are framed within the arch of a wood-like grayscale border. On the right of the print are two bronze-brown female figures, the bottoms of the faces shown. One figure is drawn in profile, her head flanked by a large round disk; the other facing forward wearing one hoop earring, her very long neck drawn sculpturally, and below it, two bright round nuts or fruit. The bottom left of the print, beneath the gray border, reads “17/100”, the title [Environment No. V”, and the artist’s signature [Eldzier Cortor]. There are no markings on the back of the print.
