- Description
- A printing plate of Congressman William Dawson and Edward Brinkley Howard used by the Chicago Defender. Dawson and Howard are featured sitting behind desk, while Dawson officially appoints Howard to the United States Military Academy at West Point. Dawson, featured on the right of the plate, is wearing a suit and tie and holds a document in his hands. He is looking toward Howard who is featured on the left side of the plate and is also wearing a suit. There are plants behind them. The back of the plate has an inscription that reads [Dawson].
