Description
Original soundtrack LP for the film, Right On! as performed by the New York-based spoken word group, The Last Poets, with vinyl record (a) and printed cardboard album sleeve (b). Reissued by Juggernaut Records. The front of the album cover features a photographic portrait of the group printed on a background that blends from orange at the top to bright pink at the bottom. Across the top is the text [THE ORIGINAL LAST POETS], with "The Last Poets" in large solid black text, with "Original" in smaller solid white text at a diagonal across the bottom of the "H" and "E" in "THE." This is followed by [FROM THE HIT MOVIE] in smaller solid white text and [RIGHT ON!] in large text with shaded black outlines. The portrait of the three members of the group is in the center, David Nelson, Felipe Luciano, and Gylan Kain. All three members are pictured standing. Luciano, in the center, has one hand on his chest and the other on his stomach, with his head tilted slightly down. On either side of him, Nelson and Kain are both pictured bending slightly at the waist, with mouths open in what appears to be laughter. Kain's proper right leg is cross in front of his left and both of his hands are in his pockets. Below them is a cityscape of rooftops with taller buildings visible in the background. To the right in a small, rectangular box set at a diagonal is the black text [AN EXPEDITION INTO INNER SELF FOR THE LISTENER]. Below this is a block of black text with the film credits: [CHOICE OF DIRECTORS / CANNES FESTIVAL / RIGHT ON! / A FILM BY HERBERT DANSKA / WRITTEN BY AND STARRING / DAVID / NELSON / FELIPE / LUCIANO / GYLAN / KAIN / A WOODIE KING JR. PRODUCTION / A LEACOCK PENNEBAKER RELEASE / COLOR BY DELUXE]. In the bottom left corner is the logo for Juggernaut Records. The back of the album cover features the same orange to pink coloring with five film stills from the movie along the bottom and to the right, and text from poems to the left. At the very top is the text [A WOODSTOCK IN POETRY] followed by a promotional blurb from Amiri Baraka.
